- 2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo S
The “Turbo S” in the name not only promises extensive standard equipment and specific design elements, but also superior power development and a high level of efficiency. All this plus the strength of character typical of the Panamera Turbo S.
The Turbo S model’s 4.8-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine delivers 550 hp, 50 hp more than the Panamera Turbo. Torque also increases by 50 Nm to 750 Nm. In the “Sport” and “Sport Plus” mode of the standard “Sport Chrono Package Turbo” and during kick-down in normal mode, the V8 temporarily delivers 800 Nm with the so-called overboost function.
With launch control, 0-100 kph happens in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 306 kph. Despite the increased performance, fuel consumption remains at the level of the Panamera Turbo, rated at 11.5 litres/100 km in Europe, dropping to 11.3 litres/100 km when fitted with the 19-inch Michelin all-season tyres with “optimised” rolling resistance instead of the 20-inch “Turbo II” wheels.
The Turbo S gets new side skirts, a four-way adaptive rear spoiler, two-tone leather upholstery and, of course, the entire back catalogue of Porsche’s options list.
Prices start at £122,623 and it will hit UK shores in June. And yes, it is stupendously fast.
